Le Comme Chez Soi

We’ve all returned from our respective holidays to face the cold temperatures of January. When it is cold and gray out, sometimes you just want a nice, familiar, cozy place and some delicious food. Relatively unmarked along Blvd. St. Laurent, Le Comme Chez Soi provides just that. It is located in the same space that The Green Room once occupied. Despite the major renovations required after the fire at The Green Room, the interior feels warm and cozy, like your family cottage that hasn’t changed since you were a kid.

Now, although one of my coworkers swears by their all day breakfast choices, they are known for their burgers and do they ever deliver.

Made with bison (which is surprisingly leaner than beef and not gamey at all), the burger was moist and cooked to perfection. It also came with a salad and roasted potatoes. I wish I could elaborate on what my colleagues ordered but I was so wrapped up in eating my own meal that every other detail dissolved into my periphery.

We spilt the homemade Chocolate Fondant (not just the name of icing, as all those reality cake shows has lead me to believe)

As you can see, it was only so-so and we didn’t devour it like animals as soon as it hit the table. We did.

So if it’s cold and dreary and you’re wandering around the Plateau, get to Le Comme Chez Soi and order yourself some bison.

Laurier BBQ

As I previously bragged about, the Kngfu office headed over to St. Hubert: Celebrity Chef Edition Laurier BBQ Gordon Ramsay for lunch.

Now, the man needs no introduction and honestly, in this case, that may have worked against him. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting. Drinks in mason jars, rustic decorations, and a pickle jar on every table. However, the napkins were a little off putting. One of my lunchmates compared it to the handtowel that you pull in a public washroom.

MOVING ON.

They have a good lunch deal - salad, chicken, and dessert - for $20. The chicken was tasty enough and the fries, delicious. However, nothing to write yet another blog post home about.

but ladies and gentleman, the redeeming dish, the pièce de résistance, the cream of the crop…

The macaroni and cheese with smoked meat.

I don’t care to elaborate. A picture is worth a thousand words and honestly, my description will fail to capture its rich, creamy perfection.

If you go there, definitely try it. You won’t regret it!*

* it is very, very decadent - you may regret it
